Paris Interiors

This weekend Ecora’s sales Director took a trip to Paris to explore Maison & Objet and came back with some fresh inspiration and many new ideas for Ecora products. Jeandré du Toit gives us an insight into interior trends and new designs emerging at the Paris event. “The show this year provided a huge array of designs and styles. As always, it’s difficult to point to exactly what the latest trends are, but here are a few styles that stood out. There was a strong presence of the Vintage Industrial look that we see constantly in glossy interior magazines. I particularly liked the worn-looking factory inspired lighting products.

Kitchens were given a fun summer feel with many vivid acid colours such as egg yolk yellow and lush grass greens. These colours worked beautifully against the honey coloured wood and urban metal features. There is a definite trend for enamel crockery and vintage Hungarian jars, which is in-keeping with the ones we stock here at Ecora.

For those wanting to stay true to the Nordic interior look, there was plenty to choose from! The trend that I picked up on was a noticeable shift for muted greys and taupe’s being paired with Nordic Blues and splashes of a strong accent colours such as oranges or yellows.

The last trend I noted was for more classical design with a modern twist. Soft purple and Sapphire blue velvet sofas paired with pastel colours and metallic accessories set the tone. Tables were dressed with fresh white table cloths and scattered with beautiful flowers and candles, a romantic edge combined with contemporary bold design.

I would strongly recommend Masion & Objet to anyone who is interested in interior design. I left with huge inspiration for the rest of the year and beyond.”
