WIDE WOOD PLANKS THE LEADING TREND FOR 2012

With retro-modern Scandinavian designs leading so many interior trends these days, it is no surprise that the Nordic love of extra wide wooden planks is also being rapidly embraced by British homes and interiors.

Boosted widths of 12-20cm and beyond are becoming the must-have for feature floors, and while this size shift may sound rather trivial, the finish is anything but, with wide woods giving a room an open, spacious and very contemporary look.

Wide wooden planks were the standout flooring trend in Domotex 2012, the world’s leading tradeshow for floor coverings, which took place in Hannover, Germany, earlier this year, and Ecora’s Director Daniel Bloom says wide planks are in huge demand in the London showrooms.

Ecora’s bespoke finish range starting at a very reasonable £59.85m2+VAT for 14cm wide Engineered Oak Orchard. The wideplank range extends through to Engineered Walnuts in a 19cm wide for £79.16m2+VAT or a 26cm Rustic Engineered Oak Brendan White for £115.85 + VAT.
