Sustainability

We actively seek evidence of commitment to continuous improvement in environmental performance from our suppliers, and where possible purchase timber products independently certified as coming from well-managed forests by organisations such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). Where certified products are not available, we will source materials from suppliers that are operating within the laws of their own country.

Ecora uses 100% green electricity from Good Energy, recycled paper and/or paper from well-managed forests.

FSC and PEFC Certification

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) are dedicated to promoting responsible management for the world’s forests. The FSC and PEFC operate by running global forest certification system with two key components; Forest Management and Chain of Custody Certification. This allows consumers to identify, purchase and use timber and forest products produced from well managed forests. By working throughout the entire supply chain FSC and PEFC promote good practice in the forest and ensure that the timber is produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.

Buying products with FSC or PEFC certification means knowing that the highest standards are kept as certified forests must prove they are well managed and meets strict principles and criteria in order to gain their certification. Through these guidelines certification schemes are able to gain direct and permanent positive impact on the world's forests and the people living in and around them, protecting the ecosystems within the forests and the rights of the indigenous peoples as well as help sustain the social and ecological environments for future generations.
